This second-floor store has a good stock of recent Royal Canadian Mint items, and is also a convenient spot to pick up basic supplies for coins and stamps in the Yonge and Bloor area. Pricing is competitive. What it does, it does well, but its stock of older coins is limited to non-existent.

Quite a good general stock of coins and paper money for the generalist and modertely specialized collector. A true neighbourhood coin and stamp shop, of which I wish more had survived to the present day. The owner is friendly, there are a number of "regulars" happy to help if he is busy, and the prices are competitive. It doesn't have the breadth of selecton of some of the other high-end shops, but is a genuine pleasure to visit once in a while.

The new store in a former bank building is impressive, but has more of the feel of a museum than a coin shop. (Somehow, when I see too many leasehold improvements, I start to wonder what influence that will have on prices of inventory...) Much impressive inventory, most of it well beyond the means of an average collector. Some of the staff are quite knowledgable about coins, others clearly there to do little more than sell RCM products and / or bullion--though all are friendly. Pricing and grading of coins tends to be fair, though unlike most other coins shops, there seems to be no room for haggling on the ticket prices. I'm not sure that I agree universally with the paper money grading used here (though paper money grading is admittedly an intensely subjective field), but the wall displays of high-grade early Dominion notes (each well beyond my annual collectables budget!) is so bloody impressive that I cannot labour the point too much. That said, I find the place a tad sterile and over-done for my personal taste, and would not likely make is a "regular" destination.

Outstanding knowledge of ancient and mediaeval coins, and a wonderful selection of both coins and numismatic literature. A specialist dealer in the ancient field, there is some occasional more modern material here. Hours are a bit erratic (mostly evenings), and I find that I encounter ANE more at shows than at the storefront location out in The Beach. Prices are competitive, grading of coins is excellent.

A friendly, if a touch disorganized store. I have only been here once or twice. More geared to the generalist and novice collector than the advanced specialist, I recall there always being some interesting pieces, and prices being fairly reasonable. I think that the owner runs it more as a hobby than anything else, so opening hours are somewhat "by chance"--best to call ahead.

They have been around for ever, and have now moved into an office tower, but Arcade Coins continues to offer a good, varied stock of coins and paper money. Their greatest coin strengths are in the Canadian decimal series, as well as ancient coins. Grading is generally refreshingly conservative (particularly on paper money)--if anything, they are prone to undergrading, particularly on the lower-priced items. The security systems can be a bit off-putting at first, but the knowledgable staff can be quite warm, particularly once they accept that you are serious about your collecting. The days of the bargain binders of world coins vanished when they left their street-front location a few years back, and the emphasis is increasingly on medium-to-high-end collectors. My only real complaint is that they are generally no longer open on weekends.

I have always found this a convenient place to buy coin and stamp supplies when on the go. Stock of recent RCM products is decent and well-priced. Older (pre-1950) Canadian coins and paper money are generally both over-graded and over-priced, though it should be clear to any serious collector that this is not the place to search out older coins--for this reason, novices may wish to use caution on non-RCM products until they have a better grasp of grading and values.

I have been going here for about 12 years, and the father and son combo that run the place are both knowledgable and friendly. Their strength is in Canadian coins and paper money, though there is a respectable selection of world and ancient coins. Contrary to another review posted on this site, their grading of coins and paper money is quite conservative (and I cannot recall once seeing a polished coin, except perhaps in a discount bin), and pricing is competitive. Good selection of "bargain bin" coins for beginner collectors, and some quite good discounts on other items.
